Film reels were very common in the 50’s and 60’s. Many parents at that time got into it to record videos of their young children. Fast forward to 2008, many of those same parents are hitting their 50th anniversary. Their children are bringing these film to us to transfer to a DVD that their parents can simply pop into a DVD player to enjoy. It’s a nice thought that while the parents started the videos, the children are giving them back to them as a priceless gift in the form of a keepsake DVD.

Not all parents are willing to let go of their precious film reels, even if they no longer own a film projector. A customer who dropped the film off yesterday said she had to ’steal’ them from the parents so they won’t be worried.

It’s smart to worry. These 8mm or 16mm film reels are fifty years old or older and you want to make sure that the transfer equipment you use will not damage them, if nothing else, as they are irreplaceable.
